Smart Update Monitor helps you reliably keep track of available updates for your Joomla website.
The extension regularly checks whether new updates are available for Joomla or installed extensions, stores the results, and can notify you by email. This means you do not have to regularly log in to the Joomla administrator area just to check for new updates.
What does Smart Update Monitor monitor?
Smart Update Monitor uses Joomla's update information and monitors, among other things:
- Joomla Core updates
- Updates for installed extensions such as components, plugins, modules, and templates
- Updates for installed language packs
- The status of the configured Update Sites
Available updates are clearly displayed in the administrator area. Updates that you do not want to install at the moment can be ignored and included again later.
Automatic checks
Update checks can be performed automatically using Joomla's Scheduled Tasks. This allows Smart Update Monitor to regularly check for new updates in the background without requiring you to start the check manually.
You can also perform a manual check from the dashboard at any time.
Email notifications
Smart Update Monitor can notify you by email when new updates are found. This allows you to quickly find out when updates are available for one of your Joomla websites.
Notifications are particularly useful for websites whose administrator area you do not access every day, as well as for regularly maintaining multiple Joomla websites.
Monitoring Update Sites
A missing update does not necessarily mean that an extension is up to date. If an Update Site is unavailable or incorrectly configured, Joomla may not be able to retrieve information about new versions.
Smart Update Monitor therefore also takes the Update Sites of installed extensions into account and helps you identify potential problems with update checks.
Monitor updates instead of installing them automatically
Smart Update Monitor focuses on monitoring and notifications. Available updates are not installed automatically.
This keeps you in control of when an update is performed and allows you, for example, to create a backup before major updates or check the compatibility of important extensions.
