If you no longer want to use Smart Update Monitor, you can uninstall the extension using Joomla's standard extension management.
Uninstall Smart Update Monitor
In the Joomla administrator area, go to:
System → Manage → Extensions
Search for Smart Update Monitor.
Since Smart Update Monitor is installed as a package, you should uninstall the corresponding Smart Update Monitor package to completely remove the extension.
This allows all components belonging to the package to be removed together.
Do not remove individual components
Smart Update Monitor consists of several components that work together.
We therefore recommend that you do not uninstall individual plugins or other components separately. Always uninstall the complete package instead.
This prevents incomplete parts of the extension from remaining in your Joomla installation.
Scheduled Task
If you have configured a Scheduled Task for Smart Update Monitor, also check System → Scheduled Tasks after uninstalling the extension.
If a task for Smart Update Monitor is still present, it is no longer required and should be removed.
Before uninstalling
If you only want to stop using Smart Update Monitor temporarily, a complete uninstall may not be necessary.
For example, you can disable the associated Scheduled Task and turn off email notifications. This stops regular automatic checks and notifications while keeping the extension installed.
Stored data
When Smart Update Monitor is uninstalled, the database tables created by the extension are also removed.
This permanently deletes stored check results, update information, and logs.
If you reinstall Smart Update Monitor later, the extension will therefore start with a new set of data. You should perform a new update check after installation.
Reinstalling
Smart Update Monitor can be installed again later using the Joomla Extension Manager.
After reinstalling, check the settings, your Download ID, and the Scheduled Task before enabling automatic monitoring again.
